From 70.3 to HYROX

“It takes all the guesswork out of training and gives me confidence that every session has a purpose.”

When I first started working with Alex, my main goal was to complete an Ironman 70.3. Not only did I achieve that goal, but I smashed it. Since then, we've moved into HYROX training, which I've enjoyed even more.

I'm really proud of completing the Ironman and breaking all of my running personal bests along the way. Alex provides me with a structured plan every week, and that's something I've really thrived on.

Alex is personable, always happy to answer my questions and never makes me feel judged. The support and communication have been spot on throughout. I would definitely recommend FASTR Performance to anyone looking to achieve their goals.

A journey without limits

“No two plans are the same because no two athletes are the same.”

I chose Alex as my coach in 2017, a couple of years into my triathlon journey. I had started swimming, cycling and running in my 50s and wanted to see how far I could progress, particularly over longer distances.

My training has always been personalised around me, my lifestyle and my commitments. Through significant health conditions and accidental injuries, Alex's understanding, calm approach and ability to adapt my programme have been pivotal in allowing me to continue doing what I love.

Since starting with Alex, I have completed long-distance triathlon relays and numerous sprint, standard and middle-distance triathlons. A real highlight was representing the GB age-group team in Transylvania in 2019, something I could never have imagined when I first began.

You are never too old or too inexperienced to begin. Working with Alex makes it easier to love what you do and do what you love, whether the going gets tough or you are smashing your goals.

Built around a demanding schedule

“Alex helped me reach the finish line at many events, including a full Ironman.”

I began training with Alex to complete a full Ironman, and without his coaching I do not think I would have succeeded. My work involved travelling every week, but he created excellent sessions that fitted a hectic schedule while keeping me moving towards my goal.

Alex was always available to help with questions around training, equipment, fuelling and the logistics of racing abroad. The support made a big difference, both in the build-up and on event days.

When Alex began coaching HYROX, I did not hesitate to continue working with him. In my first HYROX event, I finished top 10 in my age group and close to a podium. I would absolutely recommend FASTR Performance.

A first 70.3 and new confidence

“Every session is smart, realistic and clearly contributes towards my overall goal.”

When I started with FASTR Performance, my goal was to complete IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca. Alex took the time to understand exactly what I wanted to achieve, then built a plan around my work, life and regular travel.

That flexibility has been invaluable. It has helped me stay consistent with training through a demanding job and gave me the confidence that I was progressing in the right way towards completing my first IRONMAN 70.3.

Since working with Alex, I have made significant progress in both running and cycling, including consistent 5 km and 10 km personal bests with times I had not seen in almost 10 years. When illness disrupted a week close to my race, his reassurance and perspective helped me stay calm and focused.

From shift work to the World Championships

“All I have to do is turn up and train.”

Alex was recommended to me after I had recently qualified for the GB age-group European Championships. I was still relatively new to triathlon and had been following a plan from a book, but it did not account for shift work or help me fit in the right quality and quantity of sessions.

I knew Alex already coached athletes who worked shifts, so he understood how to make training work around my pattern. Having him as my coach has taken the stress out of training. It has been brilliant having every session planned for me the week before. All I have to do is turn up and train.

I have shown huge improvements in all three disciplines, especially the bike, and Alex has pushed me more than I thought I was capable of. Qualifying for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship this year is something I would never have dreamed of two years ago. His support and communication are great, and whenever my commitments change, he is always happy to adapt the plan.
